UMNO’S FUZZY LOGIC : GOVT’S FANTASTIC ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION …… THANKS TO ‘STAR CAST’ OPPOSITION STATES OF PENANG & SELANGOR!!

As it is often said ……. a useful tree that bears fruits will constantly be utilised by pests!!

Therefore with the oppostion controlled states of Penang and Selangor lately attracting more than half of investments in the country besides significantly contributing to the GDP of the country ……. it is only natural for the UMNO machinery to take credit for opposition states’ achievements.

For the uninitiated, both Penang and Selangor states have been under the control of the People’s Alliance (Pakatan Rakyat) led by Anwar Ibrahim, Tok Guru Hadi and Lim Guan Eng since the last general elections in 2008.

And for the UMNO led Barisan Nasional government to blow their own trumpets and tell the world that the ETP (Economic Transformation Programme) has been a resounding success ………. sounds so hollow!!

Najib should realise by now that the people are quite adept at seeing things as it is ……. as opposed to how it is being portrayed by the UMNO led government.

After years of being hood-winked, the people are able to differentiate between rhetoric and hard-drawn evidence!

And if Najib and company are able to prevail in the next general elections, much of it will be attributable to the non-proportional representation in terms of voters per seat.

Just look at the Sarawak state elections recently. In a Taib (Sarawak Chief Minister) backed constituency comprising majority indigenous Melanaus, the seat comprises 5,000 voters.

However, if the seat was an opposition leaning constituency (read: better informed urban populated area), that constituency would comprise 30,000 voters on average.

To say that there is a slight advantage to UMNO and its cohorts would be an understatement!

Perseverence seems to be the only way forward.

RPK’S ALREADY SHAKY CREDIBILITY : HENCE SELLING OUT ON ANWAR IBRAHIM FOR ‘PERSONAL GAINS’ BEFORE RPK COMPLETELY LOSES HIS WORTH?

It’s not so much the content of Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s spite against Anwar Ibrahim that is the issue.

It has more to do with the timing of it (about one week before the verdict on Anwar’s sodomy trial) ……. and the mainstream media which he gave his interview to (i.e. UMNO controlled newspapers).

It was rather ironic that RPK could talk of the importance of the bigger picture and that Anwar Ibrahim is not relevant in the computation.

Such cheap assertion from someone who had a great following amongst the Malaysians!

If one was really talking about the big picture, Anwar Ibrahim was and is indeed a major part of the computation.

Let’s not forget Anwar’s contribution during the 2008 General Elections!

Or does RPK feel that he can fill the void once Anwar Ibrahim is removed from the scene …… just as Zaid Ibrahim is hoping to do so?

Not only that, RPK is also attempting to attack the Selangor state government for their apparent lack of proper governance!

Why now, RPK?

My reading of all this is that Raja Petra Kamaruddin has sold his soul!

Every one has a price and RPK sold it cheaply ……. without taste, nor finesse!

It is better that we just ignore this RPK has-been and let him enjoy on his ‘personal gains’ from stabbing Anwar in the back!

Let him join the clutter of turn-coats like Ahirudin Attan (aka Rocky), Wee Choo Keong, Hassan Ali and the likes. They never really had any love for the country.

In any case ……… the race is not to the swift but to those who keep on running!

MAHATHIR’S ANGRY WITH DAP : FOR EXPOSING UMNO’S SOCIAL ENGINEERING AS NOTHING MORE THAN ‘SOCIAL CONSTIPATION’!

Of course Mahathir is ‘pissed’ with the ‘mileage’ obtained by DAP for exposing UMNO’s decades of social engineering under its New Economic Policy and New Development Policy framework.

What was supposed to be a national effort to eradicate poverty and to bring up the standards of living of the marginalised Malays in the early 1970s ……. has de-generated to a ‘free for all’ amongst the UMNO goons bent on enriching themselves personally whilst hiding behind the facade of ‘demi bangsa, ugama & negara’!

What is fortunate for Malaysians today is that it is not only the Chinese who are crying foul ….. but also the urbanised and street wise Malays, Indians, Dayaks, Ibans, Orang Asli and the lot.

It is only natural for the UMNO Ultras and Perkasas to zero in on the Chinese in order to intimidate all the other minorities!

Najib and UMNO are trying their level best to win back the hearts of the Chinese and Indians with their transformation rhetoric and doctored results and status.

Unfortunately, it will somehow not reverse the negative perception of these Malaysian groups.

UMNO appears to have irreversibly broken the patience of the significant minorities of Malaysia …… and who have now turned their support to the Pakatan Rakyat that comprises PKR, PAS and DAP.

Trying to intimidate the minorities to support the UMNO led Barisan Nasional is fool-hardy at best.

I can’t really think what Najib can do to turn the tide …… not when so many issues remain un-resolved with the economy set for a down-ward spiral if the leakages continue unabated!

And btw, speaking to an audience with statement that ‘Corporate Malaysia Says No to Corruption’ is but another feeble attempt to portray good governance.

Action speaks louder than words! Get your enforcement agencies working!

SARAWAK ELECTION RESULTS : ‘SUBSTANTIAL CONTRADICTIONS’ IN PURSUIT OF PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION?

Well, it was kinda expected …… the results of the Sarawak state elections.

If it sounds as though it has been said as a sour puss, think again.

Whilst allegations of hundreds of millions of ringgit having been pumped into the Sarawak elections ….. biase Election Commission officers refusing to hand over Form 14 …… biase Sarawak police officers, well, they are all allegations and at best, conjecture.

So let’s just leave those out of the post-election analysis!

Let’s stick to the facts of things ….. based on figures released by the Election Commission.

To start off with, the number of votes for the opposition pact i.e. PKR, DAP, PAS, SNAP, PCM, Independents etc for last Saturday’s election amounted to 330,055.

Based on a total of 680,891 votes cast (hence average turn-out was in the region of 69%), the opposition garnered 44.1% of the popular vote.

However based on the number of seats won of 16 out of a total of 71 seats, this only represents 22.5%.

That’s not proportional representation based on a democracy.

Before the loud-mouths of the UMNO led Barisan Nasional start blurring the issue, let’s get into the facts ….. i.e. the number of voters in each of the 71 state seats that were contested.

There were 26 state seats where total voters in EACH seat were less than 10,000 and whose voters comprise mainly the Malays/Melanaus and non-Muslim natives. On average, it was 8,400 voters per seat.

Not surprisingly, the UMNO led Barisan Nasional won 25 of the 26 seats. They are obviously the ‘safe’ seats for Taib Mahmud and his ilk ……. which gives them a solid head-start grabbing nearly 35% of the seats hands down!

Then there are those seats in the 10,000 to 20,000 voters category. There are 33 of such seats but most of them are below 15,000 voters per seat which accounts for the average in this category tobe only 13,846 voters!

Again, the UMNO led coalition won 28 out of the 33 seats in this category.

But when it comes to the seats with more than 20,000 voters, they are conspicuously Chinese majority seats …. averaging 25,419 voters for each of the 12 seats!!

Are we surprised that Pakatan Rakyat (DAP & PKR) won 10 out of the 12 seats?

Let’s also not forget that the Chinese are the largest racial group in Sarawak and account for nearly one third of the total eligible voters of approximately 980,000 voters.

THE QUESTION THAT HAS TO BE ASKED IS THIS:-

WHY ARE THE NUMBER OF VOTERS IN STATE CONSTITUENCIES COMPRISING PREDOMINANTLY MALAY/MELANAUS OR NON-MUSLIM NATIVES AVERAGING BETWEEN 8,400 TO 13,846 VOTERS WHEREAS CONSTITUENCIES COMPRISING PREDOMINANTLY CHINESE HAVE ON AVERAGE 25,419 VOTERS?

Isn’t this smack of suppression of legitimate voters’ representation in the state assemblies or parliament?

Doesn’t this tantamount to patronisation or worse still, the humiliation of a particular section of society that not only makes out the largest proportion in Sarawak but also significantly contributes to the well-being of the state?

Is the attempt to ostracise a particular sector of society wise …… especially the ramifications at national level when one considers that this sector of society has now unequivocally chosen Pakatan Rakyat as the alternative choice in the political spectrum?

Is this the way to respond to the Rakyat, whose outlook, relative age and convictions have changed dramatically?

Time for the fundamentals to be re-looked ….. in moving with the times!

UPDATE (18 April 2011) : If you want to hear more about mucking around with the state seats, click HERE to how Raja Petra eloquently describes this practice he calls gerrymandering!

‘SHIITE CUM-EDY’ ON ANWAR’S ALLEGED TRYST : GOOD TRY!

We all need to get a good laugh once in a while before we go to bed.

So why not click HERE and get a read/view of the amateurish manner in which this (Rocky outsourced) dude is trying to stick his ‘sexual cum-edy’ on Anwar!

Good-night!

P.S. Although outsourced, Rocky still took a pot-shot at Anwar HERE. There must be attractive bonus ‘points’ for sticking the knife in deeper!!

WHERE IS THE OPPOSITION’S SHADOW CABINET?

It seems a bit odd that the Pakatan Rakyat is trying to present itself as a viable alternative to the UMNO led Barisan Nasional government …… and yet it still has not got a Shadow Cabinet.

This opens itself to accusations that the coalition of PKR, DAP and PAS cannot really get its act together especially when it comes to the key portfolios of the Finance and Home Ministries.

Tian Chua of PKR recently gave the excuse that the Shadow Cabinet is something not recognised by Parliament todate and is apparently being blocked by the UMNO led government.

To many, this is a lame excuse and would lend credibility to the accusations mentioned above.

With the next General Elections round the corner, it would be the right timing for the Pakatan Rakyat to make the Shadow Cabinet  a reality …… formally or informally!

Pakatan Rakyat’s hope of winning the next General Elections and by just stepping into the shoes of the UMNO led government just will not do.

The Rakyat demands change and they need to know how the Pakatan Rakyat plans to do it BEFORE they vote!

MANIFESTO is a start followed by spokespersons (i.e. Shadow Cabinet members) to start articulating their plans of action for key portfolios like finance, religion, foreign affairs and security.

Get a move on, mate!

MCLM’S SEARCH FOR ‘SCRUPULOUS CANDIDATES’ TO CHALLENGE UMNO-LED BARISAN NASIONAL AT NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS

When Raja Petra and Haris Ibrahim set up the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) in London not too long ago, much confusion was caused ……. no thanks to the local media fueled by the UMNO led Barisan Nasional government.

The story then was that Raja Petra had fallen out with the Pakatan Rakyat led by the PKR, PAS and DAP ….. and especially with Anwar Ibrahim.

There was even talk of a Third Force within the Malaysian political scene ….. BN, Pakatan Rakyat and now MCLM!!

The first thing to hit you would be that the anti-Barisan Nasional vote would be split ….. obviously to the advantage of UMNO and its ilk!

It is good that more information about the aims and objectives of MCLM has been made known ….. with the interviews made with Haris Ibrahim and more recently, Raja Petra.

It is quite clear that MCLM’s creation was to a large degree due to the ‘desertions’ by Parti Keadilan Rakyat Member of Parliaments due to various reasons ….. but can be summarised as ‘GREED’.

To be fair to PKR, there was also that female DAP state assemblyman, Hee Yit Foong, in Perak who crossed the aisle (together with other PKR assemblymen) that caused the collapse of the PKR State Government.

Of course, one could attribute those cross-overs to not having done the proper vetting of candidates for the March 2008 General Elections!

But the ‘Froggie’ mentality pre-dates the 2008 General Elections.

There are still many blood sucking politicians who conveniently join whichever political party that can lead them to riches ….. besides wine and women!

MCLM can be just that grouping to now gel a formidable anti-Barisan Nasional coalition for the whole of Malaysia.

I don’t think that the movement would dilute the likes of Anwar Ibrahim, Tok Guru Hadi and Lim Kit Siang …….. instead it may just about enhance the standing of these key players including that of Raja Petra and Haris Ibrahim in the background.

It may also result in more able bodied technocrats being elected to Malaysia’s Parliament AND who are unlikely to be ‘bought out’ through questionable means!

All in all, it’s a positive development in the build up to the next General Elections!

ZAID IBRAHIM, WHY THE ‘SUDDEN CAPITULATION’?

The cause of Zaid Ibrahim seems to be wearing thin!

He is beginning to be seen as an idealist rather than a realist!

He is being typecast in the mould of Onn Jaafar, who was equally the idealist then in wanting to open the membership of UMNO to the other races.

Perhaps Zaid Ibrahim, like Onn Jaffar, is ahead of his time.

And in trying to appear to stick to his ideals, he hits the leadership of Parti Keadilan Rakyat accusing  PKR leaders of being involved in malpractices and electoral fraud. click HERE

Quite a mouthful but serious allegations notwithstanding.

Is this a case of sour grapes or something more sinister but kept under wraps by the PKR leadership?

Zaib Ibrahim’s statement has also cast doubts about the top leadership’s ‘tolerance’ to these malpractices and electoral fraud.

Already doubts have been cast about the way things are done in PKR. After all, the party comprises many ex-UMNO members who are used to the ways of the past ….. including splashing for items like a pair of shoes for RM20,000.

Doubts have been cast on the integrity of the leadership of PKR ….. doubts that can only accumulate if they are not cast away or responded to.

Perhaps it is time for Anwar Ibrahim and/or Azizah to step into the fray.

PKR DEFECTORS INCL. WEE CHOO KEONG : RM2.0M AND ‘SUBSTANTIAL CONTRACT’ TO BUY THEIR SOULS?

Well, the expose’ is coming out in drips and drabs.

Anwar’s wife, Wan Azizah has started the ball rolling with the revelation that the PKR defectors were paid RM2.0 million plus the promise of a substantial contract ….. enough for them to sell their soul and ‘maruah’ to the UMNO led Barisan Nasional! click HERE

For some, the allure of hard cash and the thought of not having to work hard anymore was too hard to resist.

Others like Wee Choo Keong …. is already living the good life and needed the cash to sustain himself ….. and his concubines …. such is his total lack of decency and accountability!

Instead he hides himself behind the so-called excesses of the Selangor state government without actually coming out with any clear cut evidence to embarrass the Khalid administration.

Maybe Anwar’s biggest expose’ may be reserved for our dear WEE-WEE!

‘Wee’ all await with great expectation!

PKR’S 4 JUMPERS – SHABBILY CONTEMPTUOUS?

How else are we to describe them?

I am of course referring to the 4 froggies or party hoppers as they are usually referred to in the UK. I am not inclined to agree with the ‘party hoppers’ term….. it’s too polite!

Shabbily contemptuous is the best description of the performance of Zahrain and Zulkifli Nordin todate. Is that the best that they can do? I suppose they had to do something to make good the contract.

Every payment needs a consideration. So whatever Zahrain and Zulkifli got in terms of ‘payment’, they had to reciprocate in a fashion that would require the maximum damage to the opposition. The jury is still out on this point.

Maybe the by-election for the Hulu Selangor Parliamentary seat would be a good litmus test for both sides. After all, the previous incumbent, the late Zainal Abidin of PKR won the seat with a small majority.

I am waiting for the performances of Mohsin and Tee Beng to, as Clint Eastwood used to say, “MAKE MY DAY”!

UPDATE ON 27 MARCH 2010: BTW, there was much brouhaha about Anwar Ibrahim not responding to the taunts and comments of Zahrain and Zulkifli recently and that was touted as a set-back for Anwar.

However, Anwar did earlier respond in the form of an apology to the Rakyat and taking responsibility for making the mistake of choosing parliamentary candidates who were ‘shaky and unclean’ (click HERE).

Doesn’t that mean ‘SHAKILY CORRUPT’?

MACC, aren’t you going to investigate this statement of Anwar’s?
