HARIS IBRAHIM DISASSOCIATES HIMSELF FROM RPK : CONFIRMS RPK IS A STINKING COWSHIT?

In an immediate response to the situation created by Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s jumping ship, Haris Ibrahim (former key ally to RPK), has resigned as President of the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement in which RPK is Chairman.

Don’t think the movement itself will be decimated ……. instead it will operate from another entity ……. one that is clearly NOT associated with RPK.

I recall a saying that goes like this …..

  • Talent is God given, be humble,

  • Fame is people given, be thankful,

  • Conceit is self given, be careful

RPK seems to have lost it all.

But the struggle continues.

MCLM’S SEARCH FOR ‘SCRUPULOUS CANDIDATES’ TO CHALLENGE UMNO-LED BARISAN NASIONAL AT NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS

When Raja Petra and Haris Ibrahim set up the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) in London not too long ago, much confusion was caused ……. no thanks to the local media fueled by the UMNO led Barisan Nasional government.

The story then was that Raja Petra had fallen out with the Pakatan Rakyat led by the PKR, PAS and DAP ….. and especially with Anwar Ibrahim.

There was even talk of a Third Force within the Malaysian political scene ….. BN, Pakatan Rakyat and now MCLM!!

The first thing to hit you would be that the anti-Barisan Nasional vote would be split ….. obviously to the advantage of UMNO and its ilk!

It is good that more information about the aims and objectives of MCLM has been made known ….. with the interviews made with Haris Ibrahim and more recently, Raja Petra.

It is quite clear that MCLM’s creation was to a large degree due to the ‘desertions’ by Parti Keadilan Rakyat Member of Parliaments due to various reasons ….. but can be summarised as ‘GREED’.

To be fair to PKR, there was also that female DAP state assemblyman, Hee Yit Foong, in Perak who crossed the aisle (together with other PKR assemblymen) that caused the collapse of the PKR State Government.

Of course, one could attribute those cross-overs to not having done the proper vetting of candidates for the March 2008 General Elections!

But the ‘Froggie’ mentality pre-dates the 2008 General Elections.

There are still many blood sucking politicians who conveniently join whichever political party that can lead them to riches ….. besides wine and women!

MCLM can be just that grouping to now gel a formidable anti-Barisan Nasional coalition for the whole of Malaysia.

I don’t think that the movement would dilute the likes of Anwar Ibrahim, Tok Guru Hadi and Lim Kit Siang …….. instead it may just about enhance the standing of these key players including that of Raja Petra and Haris Ibrahim in the background.

It may also result in more able bodied technocrats being elected to Malaysia’s Parliament AND who are unlikely to be ‘bought out’ through questionable means!

All in all, it’s a positive development in the build up to the next General Elections!

RAJA PETRA : SUPPORT CAUSES, NOT POLITICAL PARTIES?

The spin has already started since Raja Petra launched the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement recently in London (click HERE).

It is therefore important that the parties involved in the MCLM make utterly clear as to its objectives and how it will fit in the parliamentary frame-work of the country.

An example of the spin is that whilst MCLM has announced that civil rights leader, Malik Imtiaz Sarwar will be a candidate at the coming General Elections, the MCA owned newspaper, The Star, seems to suggest otherwise.

It quoted Malik as saying that he would be an independent candidate ….. and any questions regarding his purported links to MCLM should be referred to its leader, Haris Ibrahim.

A foreign paper down south, on the other hand reported that the 30 or so candidates identified by MCLM would be offered to the Pakatan Rakyat as reliable and trustworthy candidates. Only if they are rejected would they contest as independents.

However, in the YouTube presentation on the MCLM website, Raja Petra went on about being too constricted if a member of parliament was beholden to the political party he was a member of. “Political parties and the politicians come and go, but the causes remain”, was their assertion. click HERE

This seems to imply that MCLM’s candidates would be contesting as independents.

If this was to happen, it would naturally cause a split in the votes for those who are anti-Barisan Nasional.

This will be sweet music to Najib and his ilk.

It looks as though the split within Parti Keadilan Rakyat is much deeper than originally thought!

SHAH ALAM COW-HEADS : ‘STAGED COMMOTION’ GONE AWRY

Recent scenes of the 12 ‘cow-headers’ being herded into court to be charged for illegal assembly (with six of them additionally charged for sedition) caps an embarrassing end to this attempt to embarass the Selangor State Government and at the same time add to the racial polarisation of the country.

Analysts with hindsight all agree that the ‘Cow Head’ incident was not to be part of the script …… notwithstanding their attempt to racially polarise the Rakyat ….. it was too crude! It boomeranged against the establishment (read: UMNO) as Hishamuddin Hussein would testify!

UMNO had to scramble (as usual) to damage control mode with statements by Hishamuddin denying all that he said the previous day and subsequent reports claiming that of the 12 charged, 6 were UMNO members, 4 were from PAS and the 2 were PKR members. How convenient?

The incident in fact added to the disgust decent Malaysians currently have toward ignorant dudes like these cow headers! The dignified manner in which the Indian community in this part of Shah Alam responded was indeed more than commendable. The visit by a multi racial group to the temple shortly after the incident that included Haris Ibrahim significantly reduced whatever misconception that was lingering then. Click here for Haris’ “The beautiful Malay” in his blog.

The town hall meeting between the so-called residents and the State Government representatives led by Khalid Ibrahim and Khalid Samad that was recorded by Malaysiakini under-scored to all of us the kind of people we want to run our country. It was a public relations win, hands down, for the Pakatan Rakyat!

UMNO members have to realise that nearly ALL Malaysians want a two party system whereby there will be the required checks and balances.

It is up to the UMNO members to act accordingly!
