Yes, Paul Ponnadurai has passed on.
You might ask, “Paul who?”
Well, he was, to me, one of the greatest Malaysian guitarists who had performed publicly……but never really had his talents been appreciated……but that’s Malaysia for you!
I had the opportunity of seeing his talent develop since his schooling days…..and his instrumental rendition then of the ‘Theme from M.A.S.H’ is to me, one of his greats!

I picked this article up written by William D’Cruz, a journalist working in Australia, who had known Paul. Serious stuff……and here’s an extract:
“I did say at grace that he (Paul) ‘was the pride of the Indians’.
But so many of us may never know more about this musical genius because he was born in a country whose establishment first saw his race and colour and therefore stayed deaf to his music!”
