There is no doubt that Thaksin Shinwatra is the master whilst his erswhile opponent, Abhisit Vejjajiva, though articulate and handsome, is the novice!

A government installed through a military coup, as in the case of Abhisit’s Democratic Party in 2006, was destined to fail …….. even after 5 years of fence-mending and ‘other’ conciliatory means by the military installed government.

Hoping that Thaksin’s Puea Thai party would only obtain the largest number of seats BUT without a parliamentary majority …….. it ended up with a landslide victory for Thaksin!

If you compare the developments in Thailand to Malaysia, there are many similarities.

After having lost its two thirds majority in the March 2008 General Elections, the UMNO led Barisan Nasional government was hoping to make amends and cajole the electorate into returning them with the requisite power.

If the Abhisit administration could not do it despite the 5 years it had in power, I actually do wonder Najib can do any different after coming into power as PM in April 2009.

The Pakatan Rakyat is wise not to ostracise and criticise the police force in Malaysia …… who are currently caught in the middle enforcing the ridiculous laws enacted by Home Minister, Hishamuddin Hussein.

I can foresee Pakatan Rakyat persevering with the pressure on the UMNO led government whilst at the same time, securing further sympathy votes for the opposition.

With the positive vibes coming out from the states under Pakatan Rakyat’s control, the noose is only tightening around the neck of the UMNO led government.

We are certainly living in interesting times!
