TREATMENT OF SENIOR CITIZENS : THE GOODNESS OF THE PEOPLE ON THE STREET

You know, we hear so many stories about how the elderly have been badly treated ….. not only by strangers but also by their own children.

Well, I’d like to say that (as told to me recently) ….. ‘There is some bad in good, and some good in bad. Can we see the good in both?’

Without sounding too mucky, I was recently told about this elderly gentleman who was taking the public transport i.e. LRT and bus to the General Hospital for his check-up.

An observer, who was also on the way to the hospital, told me that all through the journey, many fellow passengers went out of their way to accommodate the old chap in making things comfortable and convenient.

One lady even gave him RM10.00 before departing at her stop!

I would like to believe that beneath all the rough and tumble, cut throat and crazy society that we live in, there is this inert goodness in everyone.

Something I would describe as that flicker of celestial fire in us called conscience.

May most of us continue to stay above the fray!
