Whichever way one looks at it, it was a terrible way to go …… and the anguish to the family of Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed (deputy director of Selangor Customs who was found dead at MACC’s KL premises) ,  seems to have only started ……. with the questions and insinuations that are to follow!

Friends and relatives of Sarbani are lining up to dismiss the suicide theory.

What’s the alternative ……. Supernatural Causes as in the case of Teoh Beng Hock after the Coroners findings?

Even the forwarding agents, who have dealt with Sarbani, are singing his praises for being understanding to their plight whilst remaining above board ….. and claiming that Sarbani is the fall guy for someone else.

Now that the investigation to the cause of Sarbani’s death has been left to the police, it is IMPERATIVE that the allegation of corruption against him be investigated and findings be made public.

More importantly, that investigation into Sarbani’s alleged corruption (since he was arrested on April Fool’s day) has to be carried out by an officer other than from the MACC …… due to the possible conflict of interest situation as Sarbani died at MACC’s premises.

If the investigation confirms the innocence of Sarbani, there is even more reason to rule out the suicide theory.

Notwithstanding all that has been said, it is quite obvious that the MACC standard operating manual is still out of sync with how things should be run in an important organisation like the MACC.

A massive over-haul of the MACC is long over-due.

And whilst the Cabinet ponders on approving a Royal Commission of Inquiry for the Sex Video (in order to frame Anwar Ibrahim) …… they should also ponder appointing a foreigner to head the MACC …….. someone from the ICAC Hong Kong or Singapore.

That would provide the necessary confidence needed for the MACC which is currently seen as a tool of the UMNO led Barisan Nasional government.
