UTUSAN’S ‘SUSPEND CRITICS’ POLICY : AN INDICATION OF DESPERATION INSPITE OF DWINDLING CIRCULATION!

News of Utusan Malaysia suspending one of its senior journalist, Hata Wahari, who also happens to be the President of the National Union of Journalists, should not be a surprise to readers.

After all, the Utusan is the crucial mouth-organ for UMNO to salvage what it can in terms of support from the Malays ….. a tough task especially when the Malays and other Malaysians are so well informed in terms of political developments and changes in the country.

But salvage it must even if Utusan has to spew venom, lies and libellious accusations ….. so long as they gain back Malay support lost to the Pakatan Rakyat …… that would be considered a significant achievement!

The fact that Hata Wahari is not the first (nor will he be the last) NUJ President to be sacked by Utusan Malaysia speaks volumes about what the Daily is desperately trying to propagate.

The Malay daily is seeking to create an atmosphere of fear and hostility amongst the Malays in the country they now feverishly call ‘TANAH MELAYU’.

Quite honestly, I really don’t have any problem with that term.

In fact, it brings back memories of my younger days watching the black & white television with the patriotic song of Malaysia Maju …. rhymed somewhere with ‘Tanah Melayu’!

Those were the good ol’days where I have seen Chinese boys going to school sitting pillion on motor cycles ridden by their Malay friends.

But today, we get these ninkampoops trying to sow distrust and fear amongst the population that most of us wish that they would just disappear!

Alas, it is not to be and we just have to plod on and neutralise these negative elements to the point of negligibility!

HIDUP, HATA WAHARI.
