SPOUSAL CONCERNS : WHEN ONE APPEARS TO LEECH ON THE OTHER!

We have always heard the (tiring) saying, ‘Behind every successful man, is a woman’.

However, in this competitive world of ours …. and in wanting to enrich ourselves overnight if possible …. everyone is game …. even your own spouse!

This may explain why spouses of prominent individuals get more mention in the grape-vine than their illustrious spouses …. possibly because their stories are juicier!

One clear example is Rosmah Mansor, the wife of the Malaysian Prime Minister.

It is not so much that I want to pick on this individual, rather it is because she is the focus of tabloids and the blogs ….. and the stories about her are endless. You would be surprised at the number of searches there are for ‘Rosmah Mansor’!!

I am generally sceptical about such stories, even if they are persistent because it is natural for political enemies (or those who are plain jealous) to harp about perceived abuse of position by virtue of the influential position of one’s spouse.

However, it is at the same time important that the ‘supporting’ spouse does not allow critics to take advantage of their relationship to create a basis for their malicious gossips!

You not only have to be ‘clean’ but also appear to be ‘clean’ – is the often mentioned advisory!

I suppose Rosmah does not care about these gossips and insinuations as she seems to want to bask in the glory …. whilst she is in it!

But sometimes these unnecessary vibes are damaging for the spouses that are being leeched on as their positions in the organisations that they are in become compromised which ultimately results in them becoming ineffective and redundant.

Maybe, before it reaches such a point, the spouse that is being leeched on should put a stop to it!

Najib … and possibly other similar souls …. keep your ears close to the ground … more than ever!
