So they say that it is the 10th anniversary today (20th Sept) of the mammoth rally in support of Anwar back in 1998 after he was sacked. Back to the present – it seems to be a juggeraut that is relentless in its quest to achieve its objective.

With the Pak Lah leadership floundering by the hour, it will only be expected for the hangers on to re-align themselves and hedge their positions in case the inevitable occurs. Whoever who puts all his eggs into the Najib basket would be labelled SC (sangat cuai)!

Najib, on the other hand, is hoping to take over the leadership of UMNO, and hence the Prime Ministership. With that, it is hoped that it would stem the cross-overs by the “kataks” or at least restrict to less than 31 “kataks”.

If that is achieved, Najib will initiate his own “reformasi” agenda for UMNO and Barisan Nasional for the next 4 years of so with the hope that they will become relevant come the next general elections.

He has in fact started with his own personal blog, with his own stately “message to the nation”. He didn’t get many compliments from other bloggers but you’ve got to give him marks for effort. Reminds me of Margaret Thatcher’s so unnatural, so friendly verbal delivery after stinging public comments about her “Iron Lady” approach.

But all these “expected developments” are well and good provided people stick to the rules. But they don’t, do they? A fast one is always done to the detriment of everyone! A fine example is the ISA (really, I say!) Let’s hope that if Najib takes over, these “fast ones” do not get repeated. Quite honestly, not many people are hopeful but Najib, you can prove them wrong. Or else you’ll be labelled like the rest …. !
